VMA-324 August 23, 1955: Departed from the Marine Corps Air Station, Miami for the Naval Air Station, Norfolk, Virginia where it embarked on board the United States Ship Lake Champlain the following day for a Mediterranean cruise, during which it was attached to Carrier Aircraft Group 6.
