| Ed Heinemann’s only A-4 flight 5/06/74... From Ed Heinemann's autobiography: "In 1974...I got a ride in a Skyhawk. At NAS Miramar, Lieutenant Bill Mocock took me up in a TA-4 and we toured Catalina and the San Clemente Islands as well as a few other places before returning for some touch and gos. Mocock, who was a very smooth pilot, let me fly the plane - a most pleasing experience. I didn't think of it at the time, but that flight out in a jet, when compared to my first hop in a Curtiss flying boat forty-eight years earlier - also out to Catalina - served as an illustration of man's remarkable progress in aviation over such a comparatively short time." |
