Description: right side view as Tomcats Skyhawk BuNo 150057, WL-9, launches from the MEU land based catapult at Chu Lai for the 1st time in the history of Marine Corp Aviation. Power for the cat was supplied by two J-79 engines.

COL Leslie E. Brown, MAG-12 CO, flew the 1st A-4 off the cat followed by LCOL Robert B. Sinclair, VMA-223 CO, LCOL Dell A. Davis, VMA-214 CO, and MAJ Thomas J. Ayers, VMA-211 XO. Each Skyhawk was armed with four 250 pound bombs.
