The "ED" tailcode says that 983 belongs to VMA-533. The pilots name might be LT Melville and his helmet is marked RAT.

ED-1, BuNo.145081, suffering from a virulent case of measles, caught when sequestered at VMGR-252's hangar during hurricane stand down in fall of 1964. Measles undoubtedly contracted due to large numbers of 252's KC-130's being emblazoned with Skyhawk insignia when on supply route to Rosy Roads in summer of 1964.
