Picture of the H&MS 32 IMA Harrier Electronics guys from the Harrier vans outside the hanger at MCAS Beaufort....we were there "camped out" for two weeks as I recall. VMA 513 was doing a test along with IMA on how well the AV-8As handled in the woods.....they carved out a nice little area for us, the vans went in, 7 as I recall, up went the netting and out we came.... "Sketch" Eddy H&MS-32 OA-4M Skyhawk BuNo. 154306 (1980) OA-4M 154306 from H&MS-32 is pictured flying by the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse near Cherry Point. The time was late in 1980. The OA-4M was revised from the TA-4F airframe to serve the Forward Air Controller mission. Some of the A-4M avionics were incorporated, but unfortunately not the A-4M P408 engine of 11,200 # thrust. They relied on the P-8A engine of some 9300 #s of thrust. They sure could have used that extra 2000 pounds of thrust. Twenty-three TA-4Fs were converted. Argentina has picked up some to go along with their recent buy of surplus A-4Ms. Photograph by Harry S.
