  Commander Peter Mongilardi JR., VA-153 Skipper and CVW-15 CAG. CDR Peter Mongilardi Jr. was serving as the skipper of VA 153 until May 1965, at which time he assumed duties of the air wing commander (CAG). CDR P. Mongilardi was shot down in A-4C Skyhawk BuNo. 149574, NL-306, by North Vietnamese AAA fire and was Killed in Action. His remains were returned to the U.S. in 1994 but the Navy did not officially, positively, identify CDR Mongilardi's remains until 2006 using DNA technology. CDR Peter Mongilardi, CAG CVW-15, KIA 25 June 1965, was interred at Arlington National Cemetery on Wed, 11 APR 2007. |
