Olongapo City was adjacent to Naval Station Subic Bay, and nearby NAS Cubi Point, in the Phillipines. It was separated from the Naval Base by a small river, which then served as Olongapo's sewer. A bridge over this river connected the naval base and the city, and all liberty "missions" utilized it. Many a memorable liberty was spent in Olongapo by sailors and airmen during the Vietnam Conflict. Today, Subic Bay and Olongapo are quite different since the US Navy exited the region.
